This is what a small leak can do to your cabinets if it goes undetected or is ignored for long. In this case, I removed the old RO system, the swollen particle boards and the garbage disposer, and cleaned up the area below the boards. The drywall on the right was then patched, the P trap leak fixed, and a new garbage disposer installed. After the area dried, I painted the drywall and sides in glossy white for a layer of waterproofing, and installed new plywood boards. All the seams were then caulked to keep any future leaks maintained.
