Customer complained about a permanent puddle in front of house and an exaggerated water bill. After some digging, found the underground PVC adapter that cracked along one of the threads. Replaced fitting (and surrounding pipe) with solid cemented elbows and tees - no leaks, puddle dried out the next day, and water bill is back to normal.
